MY CREATIVE PROCESS FOR PATTERNS AND QUILTING - Wicked: For Good x Lug
The Wicked: For Good co-brand with Lug captures the spirit of friendship and beauty while staying true to the core values of organization, accessibility, and style through wearable fashion.
This collection is defined by three key design inspirations:
Transformation & Growth
Drawing from the symbolic journey of metamorphosis, this theme reflects personal evolution and inner strength. This echoes the transformative arcs of both Elphaba and Glinda as we enter the next chapter of their story. Flowing lines and shape-shifting silhouettes nod to the elegance of Art Nouveau, while subtle design cues suggest the unfolding of hidden stories within every piece.Nature-Inspired Design
Rich, deep greens are at the heart of the collection, paired with pink and delicate gold accents that mirror the lush, enchanted landscapes of Oz. Glinda’s color palette has shifted from bright pink to soft hues of lavender, light blue, and periwinkle, subtly suggesting that even she may be beginning to question her true identity. The influence of organic elements (leaf-like curves, vine motifs, and fluid forms) brings a grounded, natural beauty that balances both fantasy and reality.Playful Whimsy & Hidden Wonder
Infused with magical details and unexpected surprises, the collection invites wearers to look closer. Hidden pockets, secret compartments, and imaginative interior prints celebrate the wonder of discovery, much like uncovering the mysteries of the Ozian universe. The whimsical touches are not just decorative, they are layered with meaning, playfulness, and a sense of delight.
The ultimate goal of this collection’s designs and illustrations is to represent Elphaba and Glinda breaking free from the rigid constraints of societal expectations and false narratives.
Where as the first collection featured structured, grid-like quilting inspired by the Emerald City, this new collection transitions to open, organic, fan-like motifs. The patterns now exhibit greater movement and fluidity, while the colors present stronger contrast, visually capturing the duality of Oz.
